I had a really great time collaborating with my peers on this assignment. Our Interactive Learning Resource topic was Inclusion in the General Classroom. All of us are interested in becoming elementary school teachers, so the topic was fitting. While we created this project, I was simultaneously actually learning more about how to be an inclusive educator, which was rewarding. During these times of online school, it’s nice to have the opportunity to collaborate with peers. I learnt about new resources, ideas, and information from my peers.
How will your interactive learning resource specifically ensure that the needs of all learners can be met?
Throughout our entire workshop, we have several different teaching styles and activities. When we were creating our workshop, we took how different every learner is into consideration. We have a little bit of direct instruction, where information is presented on the slide, and the instructor explains the information. We have collaborative learning, where students can brainstorm together. There are also interactive activities, where students activate their prior knowledge and can share/discuss with eachother what they have experienced/learned. We have also included videos/charts/diagrams for learners who need visuals.
How can you adjust your planned learning activities to meet the needs of your learners if an unexpected event occurs?
Using the pandemic as an example, this workshop could easily be adjusted to be successfully completed remotely. Our ideal presentation for this workshop would be an instructor at the front guiding the learners through the slides and facilitating the activities. However, taking the pandemic into consideration there are a few things that would need to be slightly adjusted but it is still very much the same. This workshop would work very well over zoom as the instructor could just use the share screen option to present the information. As for the group discussions and activities, break out rooms could easily be made for that. Students are still able to complete all activities/slido from home.
Thank you to my group for making this project so fun and interesting. I really enjoyed collaborating with everyone!
