Hello! My name is Kiana and I’m currently about to enter into my third year of the Bachelor of Elementary Education program.
Ever since I was a student in elementary school myself, I have always thought how much I would enjoy being a teacher myself. Once I was a bit older, I picked up babysitting as a job and realized how much I enjoy working with children. From there, I applied for a job at a before and after school care center, which solidified my consideration for applying to the program. I absolutely love working at the center, as work never feels like work. I love every aspect to it from planning/implementing activities, creating relationships, and simply having fun with the kids. Simultaneously, I am developing skills and strategies that can help to prepare me for teaching.
In addition to working here, I also work at a small family owned cafe on weekends. When I’m not working or doing school work, I love to read, bake, work out, paint, and as lame as it sounds, go for walks. I am located near UVic, which means lots of beaches. My favourites in that area are Phyllis park, Arbutus Cove, and what I believe to be the nicest beach on the island, Hollydene beach.
